Every detail of the imaging environment communicates something to patients. Clutter, worn furnishings, poor signage, and disengaged body language silently erode trust. We call these unintended messages Physical Graffiti because everything speaks.

The good news is that small, intentional touches can communicate the opposite. During a three-hour MRI, a technologist asked what music I wanted to hear. Bob Marley transformed an experience filled with anxiety into one of comfort and calm. In this session, participants will learn how to involved their teams to identify and eliminate physical graffiti and intentionally use positive distractions, such as music, conversation, flowers, artwork, and thoughtful design, to reduce fear, build trust, and create a more compassionate patient experience.
