Chris Tomlinson, CRA, FAHRA - Candidate for AHRA President Elect

Vice President, Enterprise Radiology at Jefferson Health, Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals Inc. in Philadelphia, PA

My biggest contributions as an AHRA & EF director have been my role on the board by listening to the needs of the members and the AHRA staff, questioning new programs/initiatives to ensure maximum value for our members, and being creative in new ideas and directions the association can take to better serve its members. I have served the membership on the board, as the finance director, a speaker, an author, teaching in the Leadership Institute, participating in the Expanding Excellence campaign, leading the “Defining our Future” campaign, fundraising, and many other functions to position the AHRA for success. In my role as Finance Director, I have tightened the close process to increase management visibility into the finances, helped clean up the annual audit to reduce or eliminate findings, created more transparency between the board and members on the finances of the organization, and facilitated long range planning as it relates to the cash on hand to run the organization vs. strategic investments the association can make to better serve its members. I am also a member of other associations and I feel I have bridged relationships with other industry partners to ensure our members are positioned for success.

Question & Answer

If nominated as AHRA President, in what ways do you plan to contribute to help AHRA meet its strategic goals?
I will contribute my experience and industry credibility to focus our value to the members around the changes taking place in our healthcare institutions to align with the strategic goal of our members being regarded as leaders who enable our health systems to realize operational and performance excellence. We understand managing large departments with expensive assets and high utilization. We understand how to run large imaging platforms that can be levered into enterprise solutions. My vision is to continue our great work to train our new leaders through the Leadership Institute and drive the CRA credential through the RACC. I also want to position our members not just for success and avoiding commoditization, but to take advantage of this industry changing landscape to elevate our profile and role within our institutions to meet the strategic goals of being the valued career asset for imaging leaders. While change is difficult, radiology leaders are in a prime position to drive this change both within their institutions and within the industry as key collaborators on industry issues and with policymakers. I want to continue our thought leadership and being a major voice in the industry related to policymakers and regulators.
