For the past fourteen years Canon Medical Systems USA, Inc. has partnered with AHRA in support of Putting Patients First program, awarding more than 70 grants dedicated to improving patient care and developing best imaging practices in the areas of CT, PET/CT, MR, Ultrasound, X-ray and Vascular. This collaboration seeks to improve patient care, safety and cybersecurity in imaging through grants that fund programs, trainings and seminars at IDN/hospital systems, local hospitals and imaging centers.

Diagnostic Imaging & IDN Hospital System: Elizabeth Gardner, TeleScan - Using AI to Bring High-Risk Obstetric Ultrasound to Underserved Populations
Pediatric Imaging: Carly Hansen, Pediatric Cardiac CT Quality Improvement through Technologist Training and Protocol Optimization Using a Dynamic Cardiac Phantom
Oncology Imaging: Debra Flores, PET/CT Implementation
In 2024, four (4) grants will be awarded according to the following categories:
Three grants of up to $10,000 each will be awarded to single-site hospitals and imaging centers.
- One grant focusing on diagnostic imaging
- One grant focusing on pediatric imaging
- One grant focusing on oncology imaging
One grant up to $20,000 will be awarded to an Integrated Delivery Network (IDN).
- The $20,000 grant will be awarded for projects that improve overall patient care and safety in imaging implemented across the IDN/hospital system.
Beyond receiving funds, the grant recipients will publish an article in an AHRA publication about their innovative program to improve patient care and safety in diagnostic imaging.
The application for the 2024 Grant Program will open on Monday, July 1, 2024.
