Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, or DEI as it is commonly referred to, is a phrase that broadly outlines the efforts an institution takes to create a more welcoming environment that embraces and values differences. Reinforcing strong DEI programs helps every employee to show up each day without fear that they can’t be their true selves, and has been shown in study after study to improve institutional performance.
Organizations with diverse environments have increased job satisfaction amongst employees, increased levels of trust, and higher engagement levels. Not only do DEI programs lift morale and overall attitude on an employee level, but they also provide a multitude of benefits that can be seen at every level of the business.
You will learn to:
-Describe the importance of a sense of urgency in implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives
-Illustrate approaches to help shift institutional culture to increase the uptake of DEI efforts
-Critique important potential barriers to successful DEI initiatives
