This session will highlight recent changes in Medicare’s hospital cost reporting rules for radiology departments, the importance of complete and accurate coding and reporting for radiology services, and trends in payment packaging and cross-sector pricing for imaging services. Mr. Trysla will also provide insight on the development and implementation of Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) for imaging services and new Medicare AUC consultation requirements that will apply as a condition of payment for imaging orders in both the hospital and freestanding radiology center settings. Finally, he will provide an update on legislative activity in the U.S. Congress that could impact Medicare reimbursement for imaging and other critical services.
Mr. Trysla is a partner at Alston & Bird LLP, an international law firm with a large health care policy and reimbursement practice. He also serves as the Executive Director of the Access to Medical Imaging Coalition (AMIC), a diverse group of physician, hospital, and imaging equipment manufacturing stakeholders that work together in advocating for payment adequacy for imaging services. Mr. Trysla previously served as a Senior Advisor at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and has also worked as a health policy advisor in the House of Representatives
